Lech am Arlberg – Wintersport at the highest level

The Arlberg ski area is one of Europe's loveliest wintersports areas and is the biggest interconnected ski area in Austria. 305 very well-tended kilometres of pistes, 200 kilometres of high Alpine deep snow and firn snow ski runs, 88 lift facilities and exclusive moments in the powder are in store for you!

We aim to come top in terms of offering the best quality pistes and slopes. And this is something we are pursuing consistently in winter 2021/2022 with a big investment in redeveloping the Madlochbahn and Zugerbergbahn cable cars.

The Arlberg. A legendary wintersports region in Austria

The Arlberg is legendary. It is the birthplace of Alpine skiing, the epitome of passion and wintersport, at the highest level. The Arlberg ski area extends between 1450 and 2800 metres altitude to the west and the east of the Flexen Pass. In the north west are the Vorarlberg towns of Lech, Zürs and Stuben, while in the south-east, already in Tyrol, are the towns of St. Anton and St. Christoph.

The Hotel Krone in Lech is an ideal winter home for holiday-makers who have fallen for the inspiration of the Arlberg region and with skisport. The 5-star hotel is located in the centre of Lech. The Schlegelkopfbahn, opposite the hotel, takes you to the loveliest pistes in the Arlberg.

The Arlberg ski area – variety-packed, exclusive and world-renowned

Even in 1931 the inspirational beauty of the Arlberg was the film backdrop for Arnold Fanck's film "The White Ecstasy". A film that made skiing in the Arlberg famous. Since that time the magical snowy landscape in the Arlberg has barely changed. Wedel on the historic tracks made by skipioneers. The ascent is made more convenient and speedier thanks to the 88 cable cars and lifts.

Skiing in Vorarlberg in one of Austria's top ski areas

Nowhere else than in the birthplace of skisport will you find ski schools whose outstanding reputation extends far beyond the borders of Austria. More than 1000 very well-trained snow sports instructors not only train beginners here, in the Arlberg even proficient skiers treat themselves to the pleasure of skiing with an instructor. Technique training, deep snow rides, ski tours and freeriding away from the pistes. The repertoire of the ski guides in the Arlberg covers all of this.

Luxurious ski holiday in Lech am Arlberg on and off the piste

The emphasis is on luxury in the ski area of Arlberg. Eight heated chair lifts, heated seats and lockable gondolas keep you warm on your way to the piste. The winter highlight in the ski region is heli-skiing. Lech and Zürs are the only towns in Austria to offer this unique pleasure. Yet even without a helicopter, deep snow skiing is particularly popular in the Arlberg. Together with ski instructors and qualified guides you too can head off and enjoy freeriding fun. Since 2008 Freeride Camps have been organised by Freeride World Champion Lorraine Huber. Every winter keen female freeriders have the opportunity to learn this trendy sport and further enhance their skills at the Women's Progression Days, where the atmosphere is relaxed.
